Wait And Shoot
Look at your opponent's hand. If it's rising, that means he pressed the fire button first. He's about to shoot. You have time to press the fire button second, and you'll raise your hand instantly.
Press the fire button first if your opponent is not expecting it. The time to raise your hand is indicated at the top of the screen.

Kinda fun (lots of anticipation). The only thing I would change is the animation.
